you can't see it? there is evil in that picture: an ominous fog of disease and pestilence, suffering and disappointment. the plants are filled with pus, the cat thinks only of death, and the sun sears blisters into their aging flesh.

Okay. Now I get it. I needed a trigger. The repeated horizontal and vertical elements mirror the confines of our rigid, paternalistic society. The empty blue chair and opened window are the vacuous depression of youth's failing pseudo-goth attempt to break free from such a structure. The plants, the life force, the wild, exist only within containers that, while curvilinear, are still bound by the grid, their curves merely reinforcing their unnatural creation. It is not about the cat. It is about the world in which the cat, the id, the untameable creature, is forced to exist. Why is living in a Post-Modern world SO HARD?
